Please review the following steps to help prevent pipe freezing and potential damages when temperatures fall below freezing for a prolonged period of time:
Disconnect and Cover Outdoor Spouts
Remove and drain all garden hoses.
Cover outdoor spouts with insulated faucet covers to prevent freezing. We provided these at the beginning of your lease, but additional covers can be found at most hardware stores.
Drip Faucets
Allow a small stream of both hot and cold water to run from faucets, particularly those located on exterior walls.
Dripping water keeps pipes from freezing by maintaining water flow.
Keep Cabinet Doors Open
Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate around plumbing.
Maintain Indoor Temperatures
Keep your thermostat set to at least 65°F, even if you are away. Avoid turning off the heat entirely.
Know the Water Shut-Off Location
Familiarize yourself with the location of the main water shut-off valve so you can act quickly in case of a burst pipe.
Be sure you have the proper tool to shut off the main water valve.
If a pipe freezes or bursts, immediately shut off the water at the main valve to prevent flooding. Contact us as soon as possible to report the issue. Please call contact me at 214-449-1020. If you are unable to reach me outside of business hours, you may contact John Kaminski at 469-426-4666.
Taking these precautions is essential for protecting the property and avoiding costly repairs. Thank you for your cooperation and diligence during this time.
